Home in time for Report cards!

We got home yesterday evening and today we were back to our usual. Christel-Ann received her report card and Honor Roll certificates. I am so glad her school doesn't hand out "My child is an honor roll student at...." bumper stickers. They gave us a simple sticker for the car with the school emblem and motto.

Still around

We were on a plane yesterday....and then we got off the plane...without the plane having moved.
That was not good, but we spent the night in Ramstein's Family Lounge quite comfortably and will go home today, AMC permitting of course!
This was a fast trip, quite an adventure and a lot of fun visiting family and friends and doing some shopping. If you know me, than you can guesstimate what's in our luggage!

Today was my employers inaugural 5k Run & Fitness walk. Thursday I picked up my race packet and immediately liked my Bib# 88.
The weather was not exactly pretty, overcast with sprinkles at first, raining at the end. But everyone (325 participants) had a good time. I was running just because I could, and to have a good time with coworkers. I ran alone, I enjoy the solitude, the rhythmic breathing, the sound of my shoes as they are hitting the pavement. I am definetly not a social runner, I would feel like I have to either keep up with someones pace or hold myself back, either I don't really want to do. Or worse yet, hold a conversation. As much as I like running my mouth...I don't when I run. Does that make any sense? Along the route I saw several people, we cheered each other on. Besides running, everyone there had something in common, it was inevitable, we talked about work, but everyone was sweating, everyone was running and there was a great "esprit de corps". Where your average runner may not have considered this to be a very scenic route, I loved it! Not often do I get to run in close proximity of a runway? I enjoyed the view of the commercial airliners on the taxiway and then taking off, did I ever mention I love the smell of jet fuel? The sight of our air crafts that are coming out of production and on a test flight, still in their green "birthday suits", is magnificient. I heart planes.
Anyway, after passing the finishline I was quite happy with my time (26:56) and waited around for everyone I knew on the course. Talked to a few and then the results were tabulated and I wanted to stay around and cheer for the winners! What I was not prepared for was hearing my name for 2nd place in my age group! (And there was more than 2 of us!)
Besides the finisher's medal I also received a 2nd place trophy! That was very exciting and made my day!
Action pictures to follow as soon as I get them!

Spring break and Honor Roll

Today was dress down day (yayyyyy!) and the last day before Spring break. The week after Spring break, report cards will be issued and we got a sneak peak today: Honor Roll.
I am not sure what Spring break has in store for us, we will take it one day at a time. Tomorrow we are doing the inaugural 5 K run/walk sponsored by my employer to promote a healthy lifestyle for its employees.

Finally-the rainchain

I'm a girl. I like all things cute.
here is my rainchain....and it really does make the prettiest sound when it is raining! Here is an action picture, the weather did me a great favor by raining!

Rain

Growing up my parents always had rainwaterbarrels. The water was used for the plants in our yard. Now that we have our own home, and after last years drought and water restrictions and putting up raingutters, I "needed" a barrel to collect rainwater to use for my plants! Somehow I didn't see myself with a big ugly plastic beast in my backyard. Reuse and recycle! So here we go, an old wine barrel from a local winery now holds my rainwater! After just one good rain, it was filled up and I am thinking about getting another one!
