Off!

Christel-Ann's flight took off on time and she is in Santa Ana now. Already went to the movies and is spending quality time with her little buddies. I do not have any pictures from her yet, but here she is this morning at the airport ready to go!

Just a quick note

Christel-Ann is leaving in the morning! Will be gone pretty much all summer! She kicked back this week and enjoyed time with her friend, but tomorrow she will get ready and we will take Emma-Louise to camp and then I am taking her to the airport! And she is headed for the OC again!

Whatever!

Dear-if-the-shoe-fits....wear it,

Whatever I do, it's not right. If I don't write I get emails about not posting anything to the blog. When I do write, I don't write about the right things. I can't win. Why don't you create your own? I will link it to mine and that way you can blog when I don't and write the right stuff when I don't. Win-win situation, don't you think?!

Love,
Me

2 more sleeps....

...until summer!
Christel-Ann finished out the year on the Honor Roll. Seeing her name in the newspaper today made all the hard work worthwhile. Since starting school I have ALWAYS packed her lunch. Always. She even said that she would choose a college close to home just because she wants me to make her lunch. Always. Last year she was convinced that she would attend Cal State Fullerton. The days spend there with "Grandma Marilyn" made a big impression on her. She has been wondering if she could live with Uncle Rich and Auntie Jennie and if they would pack her lunch. Until this week-end. She changed her mind about Cal State. SCAD! The Savannah College of Art and Design. Close to home. And our recent guest was impressed by her ability to express herself in photographs. Talent. Later this summer when she will get her first professional digital camera. A gift from one of her admirers. Thanks, Diane!
Her first adventure of the summer will take her to California. Vacation with Uncle Rich, Auntie Jennie and her buddies Clay and Dale. She will return one Sunday evening and I will have little over 24 hrs to wash and repack, because the following Tuesday morning she will be flying to Germany for 6 weeks. She will attend 4th Grade with her cousin Paul and spend a week at an equestrian camp with her cousin Inga.
Emma-Louise is eagerly awaiting preschool graduation this Friday. And will be moving into Pre-K after Labor Day. In February we participated in the lottery to get a pre-K slot at Christel-Ann's school. Having a sibling at the school had no bearing, it was a lottery system that disadvantaged "out-of-zone"-applicants (us). She ended up as #5 on the waiting list. But today I received the phone call: she is in! Christel-Ann's last year and Emma-Louise's first year in Elementary school will be at Jacob G. Smith. Her at the school for Pre-K will guarantee her a Kindergarten slot. And from there on her attendance will be based on her GPA and social competencies. I am very excited for both. We need this kind of luck next year when Christel-Ann advances into Middle School. There is really only one choice for her. Emma-Louise's summer will be spent at The YMCA Kiddie-Kamp with a girl from our neighborhood that may just become the surrogate older sister. I feel terrible for Emma-Louise, she will miss her sister very much!
