Don't sign up for "refreshments" at the first meet of the season. Here I am the eve before Christel-Ann's first track meet and I was the parent that got out of the car to pick up athlete from practice and therefore signed myself up for refreshments for tomorrows meet.
I found a 5 gallon cooler with a drink spout in the garage and will fill that up with Gatorade and water, will add a bucket or 2 of ice just before I leave and should be good. I am afraid the usual fare at running events is rather uncool (bananas/orange slices and pieces of bagel) but I'm not participating in a "cool parent" competition either.
I'm pretty annoyed by seeing all kinds of sweet and fatty foods around my Girls sporting events and am simply refusing to cooperate. Gatorade for the Middle School Track Team is one thing, but for the little PeeWee Soccer Players? Along with a bag of Chips? Hate to break it to these Kids, when its my turn, it will be a bottle of water and Appleslices or some whole grain crackers instead of a candy bar.
